Fitrah means a person's natural disposition in Arabic.
Our simple vision is that every single youth is born pure, innocent, and deserving of a future to thrive regardless of their race, religion, or gender.

Our

Purpose

Fitrah is a non-profit social enterprise that empowers young adults aging out of the foster-care system or who are court-involved, homeless, or out of school. We pay our youth to run and manage the Fitrah online business, and in the process give them the confidence and skills needed to envision and enact positive goals for a successful future.

Combining real-world experience and increasing responsibility in a work environment while imposing high expectations and one-on-one mentoring is a recipe for success. Kids are then able to break through barriers they thought were impenetrable and come out the other side as contributing members of our community with a bright future.

Our Story

Fitrah started in 2018 after our Founder, Nadia Niazi met a 60-year-old homeless woman that faced 19 years on the streets.

Determined to help her, she grew frustrated with the complex system and knew something had to be done to prevent so many vulnerable youth from heading towards the same path.

She saw a solution.  Give them work with a support system.

She donated her online eCommerce business for these vulnerable youth to take charge of so they can learn to take charge of their own lives.

Our Model:
the "Work" Formula

Fitrah has a simple formula in achieving its mission and that is work

We serve youth between 16-25 who are in or out of the foster system, court-involved, homeless or out of school.  60% are currently or previously been in the Department of Social Services and/or the court system, and 20% experience homelessness.
